Recently, the 2025 artificial intelligence medical apparatus innovation task jointly organized by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology and the State Drug Administration announced that iAorta, the "intelligent auxiliary triage software for acute aortic syndrome CT images" led by Ali Damo Hospital, stood out from more than 1,000 applications and was successfully selected. The AI model has been implemented in more than ten hospitals across the country to help reduce the missed diagnosis and misdiagnosis of acute aortic syndrome.
Artificial intelligence technology and medical apparatus are accelerating the integration and development. This is the second announcement since MIIT and the State Food and Drug Administration jointly launched the artificial intelligence medical apparatus innovation task in 2021, aiming to collect and select a group of units with strong innovation capabilities to focus on key problems, accelerate the application of new technologies and new products, and better serve and protect the lives and health of the people.
iAorta is an AI model developed by Alidamo Hospital based on its leading technology in "plain scan CT + AI" and in conjunction with the First Affiliated Hospital of Zhejiang University School of Medicine (hereinafter referred to as "Zhejiang University First Hospital") for more than three years. It has overcome the international problem of missed diagnosis and frequent misdiagnosis of acute aortic syndrome (AAS). It is reported that acute aortic syndrome, including aortic dissection, is a critical cardiovascular disease. The mortality rate can reach 30% within 24 hours of onset, but it is difficult to diagnose it in the first time. The iAorta model can quickly outline the aorta and its vascular cavity on conventional plain scan CT, and determine whether there are structural changes in the blood vessel wall, so as to accurately identify AAS.
