Choosing the level

Light control, stated honestly

What a curtain finally blocks depends on the fabric, the lining and the way it is hung. These are the starting points we quote most often; the level that applies to your order is confirmed on the specification sheet issued for the room.

Indicative light reduction by level - confirm against the specification sheet issued for the room
Level What it does Typical room Lining assumed
Sheer Diffuses daylight and keeps the view out while the room stays bright Living room, dining room, balcony doors Unlined
Dim-out Softens the glare and takes the heat out of a south-facing window Study, kitchen, hallway Standard lining
Room-darkening Takes daylight down far enough for screens, sleep and shift work Bedroom, nursery, home cinema Blackout lining
Blackout Woven or coated to hold light at the edges as well as the centre Hotel room, bedroom, meeting room Integrated or separate blackout lining
Thermal Adds an insulating layer for draughts, heat loss and cold glazing Bedroom, listed windows, rental property Thermal or interlined
Motorised Runs the curtain on a track by remote, app, timer or voice control Hotel suite, show home, wide glazing Whichever level is specified

Light reduction always depends on how the curtain is mounted. Tell us whether the track is wall or ceiling fixed and whether the curtain returns to the wall, and the level is quoted for your window rather than a generic one.

How an order is built

Five steps from window to hung curtain

The order of the questions never changes, and answering them in order is what keeps a scheme on time.

Manufacturing
01

Read the room

The room decides the level: a bedroom and a study rarely need the same fabric, and a hotel room needs both.

02

Measure the window

Track width, drop to the floor and the return to the wall set the fabric quantity and the fullness.

03

Choose the fabric

Weave, colourway, weight and coating, with a swatch and a lab dip approved before the bulk cutting list is released.

04

Fix the heading

Pencil pleat, pinch pleat, wave or eyelet, matched to the track and to the way the customer wants the folds to sit.

05

Inspect and pack

Dimension, seam, colourfastness and heading checks against the approved sample, then folded retail packing or a project trolley.

Contract & hospitality

Curtains for rooms that are lived in

Hotels, serviced apartments and show homes need a curtain that closes every night, survives the laundry and can be replaced room by room. Tell us the schedule and we build the specification around it.

Room schedule One specification per room type, with the drops and headings listed so the whole floor can be repeated.
Blackout discipline Returns to the wall, overlapping panels and a ceiling track are agreed before the fabric is cut, not after.
Laundry and care Constructions and finishes chosen for the wash routine your housekeeping actually runs.
Phased delivery Delivered by floor or by phase so the refurbishment keeps opening rooms.
Testing & records

Paperwork that travels with the curtains

Test reports and product records are prepared against the fibre, the finish and the intended room. Name the report you need and we will send the current revision.

Lookbook

The same fabric, three different rooms

Room, light level and heading are chosen together. These are the three briefs that come back most often.

Bedroom Full blackout with a wave heading on a ceiling track, returning to the wall at both sides.
Living room A sheer layer for daylight over a dim-out panel, both on the same track.
Hotel room Room-darkening with a contract finish, specified once and repeated floor by floor.
Sourcing questions

Answered before you ask

1What types of fabric curtains do you offer?
We manufacture a complete range of fabric curtains and window treatments, including blackout curtains, sheer and semi-sheer curtains, thermal and insulated curtains, honeycomb cellular shades, roller and zebra blinds, Roman shades and custom-sized drapery. We also supply curtain rods, tracks, tiebacks, linings and motorized systems.
2Can you customize curtains with our logo and branding?
Yes. We provide full OEM/ODM services: custom fabric selection, bespoke colors and patterns, your logo printed on labels or packaging, branded hangtags, header cards in your language, and customized specifications such as size, header style (grommet, rod pocket or pinch pleat), lining and hardware.
3What is your minimum order quantity (MOQ)?
The standard MOQ is 100-200 units per model depending on the product line. For customized colors, logos or packaging the MOQ is usually 500 units. Mixed-model container orders are welcome, and we can help you combine products to fill a 20ft or 40ft container.
4Can I get a sample before placing a bulk order?
Absolutely. Samples of standard models are available from stock and normally ship within 3-5 days by express. Sample cost and freight are payable in advance and refundable against your first bulk order. Customized samples take about 7-15 days.
5How long does production and delivery take?
Standard production lead time is 25-35 days after deposit and confirmation of all details. Customized orders may need 35-45 days. Sea freight transit time depends on your port; we arrange FOB, CIF or door-to-door delivery as required.
6How do you ensure curtain quality and reliability?
Every curtain passes fabric inspection, color-fastness and shrinkage testing, seam-strength checks and size verification before packing. Fabrics are tested for light blocking, thermal performance and flame retardancy, and all hardware is load tested. Our factory runs ISO 9001 quality management and our products carry CE and ROHS certification.
